Rest In Peace Mr. Theodorou

Elias Theodorou died this week after privately battling cancer.

He was far too young. Only 34 years old.

One of Canada’s most accomplished MMA fighters earning more wins in the UFC than any other Canadian except for GSP.

Elias made history. Multiple times. Earning the first ever cannabis therapeutic use exemption for a professional athlete in Canada. Then repeating this accomplishment in the United States. Elias was also instrumental in getting combat sports back up and running in Canada following the Covid-19 shutdown. Following these successes several US State Athletic Commissions removed cannabis from their banned in competition list and even the UFC/USADA eventually followed suit ‘essentially’ removing it as a banned substances. A remarkable legacy Elias created.

Even in his final months he was one of the hundreds of fighters who helped successfully lobby the ABC for a fighters committee. Elias contributed to the sport and left MMA better than he found it.

Elias was one of the more dedicated clients I ever had the pleasure to work for. One of the good guys. You will be missed. Condolences to your family, friends and loved ones.
