In the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic the Association of Ringside Physicians noted that all combat sports events should be suspended. Shortly thereafter they softened this stance noting if events resume that “COVID-19 precautions should be actively developed, regularly reviewed and modified based on the evolving knowledge and scientific evidence put forth by public health authorities“
The ARP has now published their views on precautions that should be in place in a document titled “Universal Precautions 2.0 COVID-19 Pandemic and Combat Sports“.
The document is fairly self explanatory and adds welcome feedback to various athletic commissions, promoters and other stakeholders looking for the resumption of combative sports. Below are the recommendations in full:
