After UFC 202 Nate Diaz controversially vaped CBD oil at the post fight press conference leading USADA to open an investigation into his actions.
At the conference Diaz suggested he ingested CBD oil before and after competition telling reporters that “It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after the fights, training. It’ll make your life a better place.”
If Nate ingested this medication pre bout, however, he did not disclose this to the Nevada State Athletic Commission in his pre-bout Questionnaire and such an omission can lead to its own host of legal consquences.
When Nick Diaz, Nate’s older brother, was handed a lengthy ban by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a marijuana violation his failure to admit to marijuana use in his pre bout questionnaire played a vital role in painting him in a legal corner.
Now Nate Diaz, under penalty of perjury, did not mention CBD oil or marijuana in his pre fight questionnaire in essence admitting he did not ingest these substances in the month pre bout.
Hopefully for Diaz’s sake this admission is accurate. If, on the other hand, in competition drug testing comes back revealing substances other than those admitted below then new chapters may unfold in the Diaz brothers woes with marijuana in Nevada.
